Handbags and Briefcases, a not for profit networking group for entrepreneurial women in South Manchester, is celebrating one year of helping women in business this month.  To mark this the group is holding a Solve It Surgery, the ultimate business advice session for women starting out in business.

Anyone registering for the Solve It Surgery can book themselves in for a free 30 minute one to one advice session with a range of experts on key business topics from marketing, website design, finance, PR, social media and legal issues. Expert advice sessions are available on a first come, first served basis covering:

  • Public Relations with Emma Beck of Lollipop PR
  • Marketing with Caroline Evers
  • Website Design and Search Engine Optimization with Sharon Charteress of Mood Design Solutions
  • Social Media with Adrian Slatcher of Manchester Digital Development Agency
  • Financial Management with Emma Cowbourne from Blue Orchid
  • Legal Advice with Bridgette Doyle from Bolton Business Ventures
  • Business Planning and Advice with Ann Monaghan from Blue Orchid
  • Tax advice from Diane Smith of HMRC

The Surgery will also feature two great speakers:

  • At 11am Award winning businesswoman Diane Pilling will talk about her career and business, which provides accounts services for over 450 businesses, and why she is so passionate about having and encouraging a successful work/life balance for women.

  • At 2pm Ben  Poland will talk about how to make the most out of networking opportunities.  Business development director for a blue chip accountancy firm and director of an international technology company Ben is also Greater Manchester Chamber’s youngest ever Stockport President – all of which he attributes to effective networking.

The Handbags and Briefcases group encourages women to set up their own businesses by giving them both practical advice and a supportive and strong local network of friends and colleagues. The range of businesses run by H&B members is wonderfully diverse – from belly-dancing and book-keeping to children’s disco events, PR, vintage clothing, de-cluttering services and alternative therapies.

The Solve It Surgery is a fantastic opportunity for any woman in business to have expert business advice in many different areas. To attend please email info@handbagsandbriefcases.co.uk or lesley@handbagsandbriefcases.co.uk   The event is free for members and £10 for non-members (but at only £10 per year joining fee, it makes sense to join and enjoy a year of great events)
